1/18/2026

Students of Union School International participated in a comprehensive First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) demonstration conducted by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Baguio City Chapter on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
The activity aimed to equip students with essential life-saving knowledge and practical skills that can be used in emergency situations at school, at home, and in the community. Red Cross volunteers and trained responders led the session, combining lectures with hands-on demonstrations to ensure active student engagement.
Key topics included basic first aid skills such as proper bandaging, wound care, controlling bleeding, handling fractures, and responding to common emergencies. A major highlight was the Basic Life Support training, where students learned how to check for responsiveness, keep the airway open, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Students were given the opportunity to practice CPR techniques using training mannequins under the guidance of Red Cross instructors. The facilitators emphasized the importance of staying calm, assessing the situation quickly, and seeking professional medical help when necessary.
School administrators and teachers expressed their appreciation to the Philippine Red Cross Baguio City Chapter for sharing their expertise and promoting a culture of preparedness and safety among students. They noted that activities like these help build confidence and responsibility in young people, empowering them to act during emergencies.
The Philippine Red Cross continues to strengthen its mission of saving lives and building resilient communities through education, training, and humanitarian service, particularly among the youth.
