Junior and Senior High School Students Join Tree Planting Activity in Partnership with DENR-CAR

9/27/2025

Selected students from the Junior and Senior High School departments participated in a Tree Planting activity held on September 26, 2025, at South Drive, Baguio City, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR).
With the theme “One Tree at a Time, One Life at a Time,” the activity underscored the shared commitment of the participants to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and the nurturing of life through every tree planted.
The student representatives, guided by school staff and DENR-CAR personnel, planted various tree species in designated areas as part of the government’s reforestation and environmental preservation efforts. Through this initiative, the youth demonstrated their vital role in protecting nature and promoting ecological awareness within their communities.
Engr. Leandro L. De Jesus, CENR Officer, expressed his appreciation to the participating students and partner institutions for their dedication and teamwork.
“The students’ participation has made a meaningful impact in building a greener future for generations to come,” Engr. De Jesus said.
The event served as a powerful reminder that even the smallest actions—like planting a single tree—can contribute significantly to creating a sustainable and livable environment for future generations.

USI  Participates in Nationwide Earthquake Drill

9/11/2025

September 11, 2025 — Union School International (USI) in Baguio City actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), a government-led initiative aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and response capabilities across the country.
Spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the NSED encourages schools, government agencies, private institutions, and the general public to rehearse their response to a major earthquake scenario.
At exactly 9:30 a.m., the school initiated the drill with the sounding of two long bells — the signal for a simulated earthquake. In response, students, faculty, and staff immediately performed the standard "Duck, Cover, and Hold" protocol to protect themselves from potential falling debris.
Following the initial response, all individuals calmly evacuated their classrooms and offices, proceeding in an orderly fashion to the school’s designated evacuation area. A headcount was conducted to ensure that all were accounted for, reinforcing the importance of situational awareness and coordination during emergencies.
School administrators praised the collective discipline and seriousness of the participants. “Preparedness saves lives”. Activities like this one help us cultivate a culture of safety and readiness within our school community.
Union School International remains committed to supporting government initiatives on disaster resilience and ensuring the safety and well-being of its students and personnel.
