The Joy and Peace of Christmas
Christmas Cantata 2024 – “The joy and peace that Christ brings”
“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” – Luke 2:10-11
On December 6, 2024, Union School International gathered as one joyful community to celebrate the birth of Christ through its annual Christmas Cantata, held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. This year’s theme, “The joy and peace that Christ brings,” was beautifully reflected in each song, message, and performance.
The event began with Thanksgiving Worship led by the Uni Worship Team, lifting the hearts of everyone in praise. Pastor Julius Solis then shared a meaningful Christmas message, reminding students and staff of the true reason for the season—Jesus Christ, our Savior and source of joy.
Ha, Yirang gave the opening remarks, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the program. A series of heartfelt presentations followed, showcasing the creativity and spirit of each grade level.
  • Grade 9 presented a musical play of the Nativity, retelling the birth of Jesus with emotion and reverence.
  • Grades 1 & 3 (Star) sang Joy to the World and Holy Night, their voices full of innocence and joy.
  • Grades 4, 5, & 6 (Angel) offered a powerful medley: Noel, Hallelujah, and Angels We Have Heard on High, lifting hearts in worship.
  • Grade 7 (Dove) brought cheer with Jingle Bells, spreading smiles and laughter.
  • Grade 8 (Wreath) energized the room with It’s Christmas by Planetshakers.
  • Grade 10 (Candle) gave a moving rendition of Noel, reflecting the light of Christ.
  • Grade 11 (Bells) impressed with the dramatic and joyful Carol of the Bells.
  • Grade 12 (Gift) closed the student performances with The Gift Goes On by Sandi Patti, reminding everyone that the spirit of giving comes from the greatest gift of all—Jesus.
Even teachers and staff joined the celebration, offering their own presentation and showing that the joy of Christmas knows no age. Kim, Eunji gave the closing remarks and prayer, followed by the singing of the school hymn, led by Yechan Kim and Jaehyun Kim, bringing the event to a heartfelt close. The program was gracefully hosted by Dherlene Kaye Carosen and Park, Jaemin, who guided the audience through each part of the celebration with poise and warmth.
The Christmas Cantata 2024 was a special time of worship, joy, and unity—a reminder that the peace and joy Christ brings continues to shine in every heart that believes.

USI Open House Season 2: A Festive Exchange of Creativity and Warmth
Union International School (USI) held its much-anticipated Open House Season 2 on the vibrant afternoon of Sunday, November 10. The event, teeming with creativity and camaraderie, offered students a rare opportunity to explore one another's dorm rooms and celebrate their shared talents and personal styles.
Building on the success of Open House Season 1, this second installment was even more colorful and lively. Male and female students, for one day only, were granted access to each other's dormitories—a unique and exciting twist that fostered an atmosphere of fun and inclusivity.
Each dorm room reflected the ingenuity and flair of its occupants, with themes ranging from festive Christmas decor to hand-painted murals and nostalgic displays of childhood photos. Some rooms adopted whimsical concepts, like Mario and music themes, while others resonated with heartfelt touches, such as a prayer request box for visitors.
This year’s Open House not only delighted attendees with its vibrant ambiance but also underscored the spirit of community at USI—a school where creativity and connection thrive.

USI Celebrates Thanksgiving Day with Joy and Unity

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.” – Psalm 100:1
Union School International celebrated its annual Thanksgiving Day on October 29, 2024—an event filled with praise, cultural presentations, and gratitude. Inspired by Psalm 100:1, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,” the celebration reflected God’s goodness and the rich diversity within the USI community.
The day began with a vibrant Parade of Nations, where each grade represented a country through traditional costumes and flags: Turkey, El Salvador, Paraguay, Kiribati, Gabon, North Macedonia, the Philippines, and Korea. Students proudly showcased what they had learned about these cultures.
The Uni Worship Team then led the community in singing “You Are Good” and “The Blessing,” uniting hearts in joyful worship. Pastor Bokju Ha shared an uplifting Thanksgiving message, followed by a warm welcome from student representative Yegang Seong.
Students also performed cultural dances and songs, such as Halay from Turkey, El Sombrero from El Salvador, and Kopacka from North Macedonia. These creative presentations made learning about different cultures fun and meaningful.
The event concluded with a prayer and closing remarks from Kara Aura Gongora, encouraging everyone to continue living with thankful hearts. The school hymn, led by Yechan Kim, brought the USI family together in one final song of unity. Thanks to Jaehyun Kim and Matilda Alexis Lagasca, who served as masters of ceremony, the event flowed smoothly and joyfully.
To end the celebration, high school students set up food booths, adding a festive and flavorful touch to the day. USI’s Thanksgiving Day was a beautiful reminder of faith, gratitude, and the joy found in cultural unity.
USI’s Jaehyun Kim Shines at Annual Music Festival
Union School International (USI) Annual Music Festival was a showcase of exceptional talent, with Grade 10 student Jaehyun Kim claiming the top prize. Jaehyun mesmerized the audience with his heartfelt rendition of “Shape of My Heart,” a classic pop ballad composed by Sting in 1993.
Following closely behind, Juho Kim secured second place with a powerful performance of an Italian opera piece, demonstrating remarkable vocal control and emotion. Third place was awarded to Donghui Min, who delivered an impressive and deeply resonant performance of a Korean song, earning high praise from the judges and audience alike.
The event, a time-honored tradition at USI, featured 30 participants who competed passionately to showcase their musical talents. Pastor Abraham Cho, one of the six esteemed judges and the festival’s sponsor, announced the results in ascending order, starting from 30th place. The anticipation and excitement in the room grew with each name called, culminating in a well-deserved standing ovation for the top three winners.
The festival once again highlighted the diverse musical abilities of USI students, celebrating their passion and dedication. Congratulations to Jaehyun, Juho, Donghui, and all the participants for making this event a memorable success!
